Almost every business that holds stock knows the moment when its own warehouse is too small. Not all year, but around a peak: purchasing for the holidays, a seasonal collection or a container that arrives earlier than planned.
What is overflow storage?
Overflow storage is temporary extra storage alongside your own warehouse. Stock that is not needed right away goes to an external location and comes back as soon as there is room again or demand picks up.
When does it make sense?
- You buy in bulk for a better price but do not have the space.
- Your seasonal stock sits for months before it sells.
- Your own warehouse needs to stay clear for fast movers and order picking.
- You want to grow without renting bigger premises straight away.
Costs
At Stockwell, overflow storage costs the same as standard pallet storage: from €2.00 per pallet per week, plus €4.50 per pallet for inbound and outbound handling. There is a minimum term of 8 weeks.
