Euro pallet dimensions and weight

3 min ·
A euro pallet is 120 × 80 cm, a block pallet 120 × 100 cm. How much can go on it, how high can you stack and what does an empty pallet weigh?
In the Netherlands you mostly come across two pallet sizes: the euro pallet and the block pallet (also called an industrial or MRP pallet). The size determines how much space your pallet takes up in a lorry, a container and a warehouse.
| Euro pallet | Block pallet | |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 120 × 80 cm | 120 × 100 cm |
| Height of empty pallet | 14.4 cm | ± 14.4 cm |
| Weight of empty pallet | ± 25 kg | ± 30 kg |
| Per 20ft container | 11 | 10 |
| Per lorry (13.6 m) | 33 | 26 |
How tall and heavy can a pallet in storage be?
That is up to the warehouse. At Stockwell a pallet can be up to 2.20 m high including the pallet itself, and weigh up to 1,000 kg. Pallets up to 1.80 m fall under the standard rate, taller pallets under the rate for tall pallets.
Tips for a good pallet
- Heavy at the bottom, light on top, and nothing overhanging the edge of the pallet.
- Wrap it well with stretch film so the load cannot shift.
- A clear label with contents and reference on at least two sides.
- No damaged pallets: broken boards are a risk in the racking.
